As you can see in my last posts I was very busy with painting wallpapers. It was for a wall in Ludwig Zwei, a new gaybar in Amsterdam. It took me one month to paint 9 pieces of paper so it was very intense but I'm glad I finished it before the opening.
Photo on the left: The sticks are holding metal plates to the sealing. Photo on the right: I painted the different pieces of paper together, because it didn't fit exactly.
I will post photos of the total wall later, because I have to varnish everything, but here are the pictures of the opening:

Popping champagne! On Tuesday, July 21, Ludwig Zwei opened it's doors to the public. The mayor of Amsterdam re-opened also two other gaybars: Eve and Havana.

I met my favorite designers Viktor and Rolf! That was just awsome.
I love their work and they are very kind.

You can see a little bit of the paintig in the background, it's a wall of 21 meters (68.89 feet) long.
Total pictures coming soon!
Wauw! I was in Amsterdam today, and if i had seen this post earlier I would definitely stop by. What a beautiful place and I am so curious of the total wall!
ReplyDeleteDamn, it's looking amazing, Marjolein! Also nice to see you in my fav newspaper =D
ReplyDeleteYou can paint an entire bar in a month! I am lucky if I can get four 16" x 30" pieces of paper covered with artwork in that time. I so love that you not only share your luscious artwork, but you also give us a glimpse into your glamorous and wonderful life. Its good to see that artists don't have to be slaves, there are some - like you who can be celebrated and loved. Great work.
